On October 14, 1955, The Golden State Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, (OES), Prince Hall Rite of Adoption for the State of California, issued a Charter Cosmopolitan Chapter No. 72 in the State of Hawaii. This was the sole operating Chapter for the Prince Hall Family in the State of Hawaii for many years. In February 2005, The Most Worshipful Grand Master, The Honorable Ervin Hendrix Jr., 33 responded to a request from Worthy Matron, Ernestine Pratt of Cosmopolitan Chapter No. 1, to form a Grand Chapter and was granted permission.
Letters of dispensation from New Hope Lodge NO. 3 and Kaneohe Bay Lodge NO. 2 were sent to the Most Worshipful Grand Master, The Honorable Leslie Jones requesting for their Lodge to adopt a Chapter with an intent to form a Grand Chapter. On June 2, 2006, during the Fifth Annual Communication of the MWPHGL of Hawaii, the Grand Lodge voted favorably to grant charters to New Hope Chapter No. 2 and Kaneohe Bay Chapter No. 3. These Charters were signed and issued to each Chapter by the Most Worshipful Grand Master, The Honorable Linwood D. Richardson 33.
With three chartered and established chapters, on August 4, 2007, a meeting of the combined membership met for the purpose of voting to establish a Grand Chapter. Prince Hall Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Rite of Adoption, Hawaii and it's Jurisdiction Inc. was granted a Charter on the 12th day of January 2008 by the Most Worshipful Grand Master, the Honorable Lindwood D. Richardson 33.
We humbly thank the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Hawaii and Its Jurisdiction Inc., for their guidance in this historical endeavor. Truly a result of brethren and sisters, Working Together Achieving The Mission.
